An Elopement in Tuscany

There really isn’t anything like an elopement in Tuscany. I flew into Rome, grabbed my rental car, and headed north—with nothing between me and Tuscania but miles of vineyards and farmland. There is always something freeing about driving in a new place. There’s no agenda and everything is just taken in for the very first time.

Andria and Trever planned their intimate elopement at Abbazia di San Guisto, a beautiful venue and hotel just north of Rome in Tuscania. The abbey is nearly a thousand years old and you can literally stay in the tower of the abbey/castle. It’s something truly astounding. The first night, we all sat at the roof of the tower of the castle as Trevor played guitar and we drank wine. The quietness and ultimate presence of that moment was incredible. These images remind me of the cinematic nature of Italy and the deep, resounding beauty that lies in the country-side. I wanted to photograph this day with unique crops and a focus on the green palette that Italy offers in Summer.
